The system is known for mean rulers, people who took over power by cruel means. It arose in the mid of 600 BCE, in many states their middle class consisted of merchants and manufacturers in which turned contemptuous towards their rules. These people went against them, they demanded political and social privilege, they promised to make changes according to the citizens needs. The Tyrants usually rearranged the laws, helped the poor, removed debts, and gave citizens a right to speak in the society, as a result the citizens obeyed them. However they ruled over Greece for a short period of time, and ended around 510 BCE.
