Even though Democracy originated from Greece, yet their system is different from the modern system. In this system citizens were a part of the candidates, they vote by the showing of hands. All Greek citizens were allowed to participate except for slaves, women, children weren't count as citizen. The system began around 500 BCE, their first assembly opened up to 30,000 male citizen but only 5,000 attended. Public debate and vote occured during this time, the ruler of each state was chosen through lottery annually. Their people got assisted in the State's Finance, also received foreign ambassadors. People didn't have much individual power, during war their military is the top priority. This system allowed all male to participate no matter if they're poor or rich. This open up a new door that led to modern democracy now a day.
